    Medway/Kent speed drop, anybody else? Router shows ok!

      Medway/Kent speed drop, anybody else? Router shows ok!

      Am wondering if anybody else in Kent area is having the same problem. I have seen from a forum search this happened to some back in June.Link - Router shows connected at usual speed but slow.
      My router shows 14mb download speed but as of Monday 5/11/12 from late afternoon speed drops to under 1mb in actual use, and is the same all evening.
      Tuesday morning was back ok, by 4pm gone again.
      Same Wednesday 7/11/12
      Till now not had a problem.

      Been on to sky tech support. Have had jump through all usual hoops, they show no problem. Router status shows 14mb but actual speed drops as outlined above. Upload speed seems unaffected.


      Any ideas

      Must be a sky problem?

      Thanks Pbolco. Yes I am in Rainham as well. Unfortunately Sky's answer seems to be if your router shows the speed is ok then it must be our imagination.

      I am also in Rainham and this evening it is very slow. I usually get around 14Mbs, but I have just done a speed test and I am getting 1.7Mbs....

      Just checked my router speed and it is saying I am getting 17Mbs but just retested the speed test and it says 1.4Mbs. So obviously something is going on - even turned the Wi-Fi off and used ethernet cable, still got 1.4Mbs

      If you (and anybody else affected) could complain to Sky it would strengthen the case and put more on file. I will follow up with them and
      say its not just me. Very frustrating.

      try do a trace route to bbc or something, might be one of the routes having issues..

      Have you tried entering your postcode in this checker?

      Broadband and Talk service updates | Sky Customer Support

      Sky may be aware of it, you never know.

      Yes I have checked my postcode and my exchange is not one affected. (although I have my suspicions).
      The problem is dated 2/11/12 but that issue has been going on since the beginning of the year.

      I did another speed test this mornng at 05:40 (8/11/12) and my speed is now 20Mbs (my router is saying down speed is 18Mps)

      Yes have checked mine as well and is back to normal. If this carries on as before I think you will find that around 4pm it will go again until early hours of the following morning.
