If you are placing it as shown in the picture, then I would highly recommend that you get on the phone to Sky and ask them if they could replace it as it appears to be getting too hot.

Any electrical device can fail and it sounds like this has happened here.

Whilst i have used the Netgear DG934G, Sagem 2304n and the Sky Hub, and put some heavy traffic through them, I haven't had any of them get too hot.

Re: Need HELP PRETTY PRETTY PLEASE :/

One of the specific things I did with the Sky Hub, as with the DGND3700 and WNDR3700, was to copy some large files between my NAS and my Laptop. Whilst not everyone will specifically do this task, I think that it was a fair heavy load for a sustained period.

Each router did not get hot, and nor should they.

My reason for doing this was my own experience of the Netgear DGN2000 which has a overheating problem.

No one else on this forum has complained about the Sagem 2504N getting hot on a regular basis. This all leads me to conclude that something internal is wrong/faulty.

Since you should be under warranty and Sky is very good on this side of things, getting it replaced is the best solution and to let them identify the problem.

Hi Scubbie, did as you said and contacted them. They are sending me a new unit out in the next 3-5 days. I didn't ask then wether it would be another sagem unit or something else as tbh i have lost confidence in the sagem now.
Oh well, probably me just being overly worried. The unit is still the same, getting very hot within the first few hours of being switched on but will keep my eye on it until the new one arrives
      Thanks for your advice.

Re: Need HELP PRETTY PRETTY PLEASE :/

I think that this is the first report of the Sagem 2504N overheating on this forum.

I don't watch the Sky forums or others as tightly, so I can't be sure that it is the only one mentioned on any forum.

Knowing that there is a large number of members who have this router, I would suggest that the Sagem 2504N is normally a very reliable product and this incident shouldn't put you off.

Of course, if you are lucky, you could always receive the new Sky Hub SR101.

I hope that you will find it easy to use.

There is more in the wind about the Sky Hub SR101, but I don't know what it is and if it would be worth the extra money people may have to pay from next year.
