New Router, Cable and Master Socket

After diagnosing that my NTE5 faceplate was faulty and was causing constant disconnections I decided to have a new master socket installed, I had this moved from the hall and into the living room. I also had the new Openreach VDSL faceplate fitted but as I have now done away with the internal wiring this was probably not needed and as far as I can tell makes no difference weather it's on or off.

Whilst doing this Sky decided to run DLM and subsequently set my connection speed quite low (7003kbs). After a few calls they had a look and they have manage to increase it considerably,

At this point, using a Netgear v2 router my noise margin was up and down like a yo-yo it was going from 7db down to as low as 2db so I had a daft bid on a Sagem F@st 2504n router on ebay and managed get it for under a tenner delivered.

I'm pleased to say it worked fine and I noticed straight away that the noise margin is a lot steadier line attenuation increased slightly from 33 to 34.5

I'm thinking I could get a bit more and my up speed could be a quite a bit better?

Your download speed is fine and you are unlikely to get much more, but you could get 50% more on your upload. Give them a call and ask them if they can improve it.

Thanks, my download was 15770 before I plugged in the new router. I'll give them a call about the upload.
