Since the initial DLM process had completed, I would call and ask to see if there are any errors showing on the line first.

If there are minimal or no errors ask if they can restart the DLM process to improve the speed.

Remember to use the new microfilters though. These do wear out and should bring replaced every couple of years.

Re: I think dlm has stopped and i could squeeze a bit more speed?

I appreciate that you are comparing it to your previous connection, but at the end of the day it isn't that bad.

My current connection speed is shown below:

      Broadband Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 19653 kbps 1157 kbps
Line Attenuation 18.0 dB 10.0 dB
Noise Margin 7.1 dB 9.9 dB

It's been set manually as unusually DLM in my case makes it worse. However the things to look at are the Line Attenuation, compared to your own. Mine is a little lower, which does help. For some reason mine has lost a little of the connection speed since it was first installed, but with a non-Sky router I can use telnet to get it back to 19,999kbps/1164kbps.

Annoyingly with ADSL it isn't a case of saying you line is 820m, your speed will be exactly 19,005kbps. As previously mentioned the actually cables used, where they travel and the equipment involved can all affect things.

Do remember that on the Sky Unlimited Broadband product Sky does not reduce the actual throughput speed in the evenings and at the weekends, like some ISPs do. They never reduce your speed because you are downloading or uploading too much, or because it is a particular type of download/upload.

Hopefully it won't be long before an announcement for your exchange is made to confirm an installation date for Fibre. This should open the doors so that you can get considerably better connection speeds.

It may well be the time of year
Im finding it much harder than usual to sync at 1216 upstream atm
it usually does it in 3-5 resync's after a reboot
It took around 30 a few days ago

I know my speed is not to bad but sky said I would get the same as my previous isp (vivaciti). I do download a lot and appreciate the extra meg or 2 in speed. Hopefully it will go back up before the dlm finishes.

      update

DLM has now finished and on the My Sky website my speed has been set at an 18 meg profile but the line is not reaching that

I gave Sky a ring and they said that the highest that DLM recorded was 19000+ (which on average is what i used to get on my previous ISP. She said she would manually put that speed on my line. After speaking to one of her colleagues she said that they cant do that as what is on my line is the maximum it can possibly take! Even though DLM had it running fine in the 18000+ speeds. she also said that they could put me on the 20 meg profile and see what happens but my line would likely slow even more??

In the end she has decided to run DLM again to see if that improves it.

      my old router stats are:

most important to downloading is stable connection and better upload, what where your pings like before as they will have effect as well , as at moment no sign of any improvement on this line

why is better uploading important to downloading? my connection with my previous ISP was stable for 2.5 years on the same line and 2-3mbs faster.

Not sure on the pings it is not something i looked into.

with better uploads and lower pings response times to websites and downloads better
