As the title says, is there any answer to the reason for the swich from MER to PPPoA yet? There must be some point to it. I've lost 2 meg.

Also when I tracert my exchange it now says easynet.co.uk when it used to be sky.com?

It looks like you have been put back on to the old legacy exchange equipment. It should not have had any effect on your speed, post your stats.

It could be your exchange is being upgraded and you have been transferred temporary to the older equipment.

Same here, was moved to PPPoA a while ago and also showing easynet.net in Traceroute. However, unlike yourself I've actually got an increased sync rate and everything appears far more stable. I wonder how long that will last!

Re: Any answer to the reason for the switch from MER to PPPoA yet?

It's a bit strange because our exchange's first LLU was Sky and I was on the SVBN right from the start. Surely they wouldn't have fitted legacy equipment in the meantime?

Re: Any answer to the reason for the switch from MER to PPPoA yet?

I've just helped someone sign up to Sky broadband, they connect to an exchange where Sky only became available at the start of this year. They connect on PPPoA and doing a traceroute they too are showing an easynet.co.uk address. Seems that Sky are still using the older kit even on recently upgraded exchanges.

they too are showing an easynet.co.uk address.
But is it the 2nd hop? For some reason most are finding that the second hop is timing out and it goes to the next, which is on to the Easynet network. All Sky broadband uses the Easynet network, whether it is legacy or SVBN.

Here's a traceroute from after being swapped to PPPoA. Sure enough it jumps the second hop and then to easynet. Second hop used to be sky.
