      Mega slow down and disconnects

i did post before but got no replies. Here is a rundown of my problem

Been on sky for 3 weeks had problems during the settle in, which i excpected. I was then ok for 2 weeks (the odd disconnect actually) but this week it has been constantly up and down slow and sluggish, i have a feeling it is just the evening although i'm not on in the day to check.

I've called sky numerous times and they won't put me through to tier 3. so i'm stuck at tier 1, and to be frank they don't have a clue. They tested my line and said there was a a fault. I called BT and they said my line was fine.

I'm really stuck as what to do next.

i dont buy all this, unp, line faults etc.10 day router training etc
i also have the same problem with slow down at night, its more like melt down.
      web pages loading very slow.
i never had all this with aol, well maybe a bit of up and down whenever i changed my speed ie:512 to 1mb and then to 2mb. but it didnt go on for long,
im sure most people on here can relate to that,
i also switched off my router all the time it wasnt in use and never had any real speed problems. im now on day 11 router training over , and guess what still showing sync between 6036 - 7020 and still on meltdown tonight less than 1/2 meg connection
so why are we all buying this rubbish that sky tier 1 are putting out.
there are tech people on this forum who admit there are major problems.
i like many other people on here are now past the 8 day cooling off period. i had no intention of cancelling because i hoped and still do, that things will get better.but its no good having a fast connection during the day when most people are at work.
my aol was coming through this bt line and so is this sky connect so what is the difference????
im damned if im going to run up a massive bill to listen to that crappy music whilst on hold.
is there not a govening body who deals with these kind of issues who we can direct our complaints to.
between them sky and bt must be raking the money in on phone calls.
to all the tech guys on here, this is not aimed at you.
you must be as annoyed as the rest of us, knowing that there is major problems and not being able to sort it fast enough

Yes there are problems, but members on this site have put in a lot of work to find fixes for SOME of the problems. The evening slowdowns is relatively new, so I don't think anyone has come up with a solution for that yet. I have only seen it reported recently.

markyb Were you on 8mb with AOL or up to 2mb?

If you were on up to 2mb you would not have experienced the Max DSL effect, trust me if you are within 10 days of being connected it is going to changed all the time.

If you do a search on ADSLG or the net, 1000's of people are having trouble on MAX dsl which is what CONNECT is.

After 10 days you should have got a profile assigned to your lines best attainable speed.

i was on the 8mb before i came to sky.
couldnt tell you what the sync was on that, its only since i came on to sky that i found out all about this tech stuff.
but on the 8mb with aol, web pages were fast loading all the time. and download speeds were pretty stable, i reckon about the 4mb mark.
this is what is so annoying ,

hi guys thanks for the quick response

sorry just to add i have disabled upnp and i am in the master socket.

sky max package by the way

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4880 kbps 766 kbps
Line Attenuation 45.0 db 29.6 db
Noise Margin 7.6 db 11.3 db

I have called sky again, but this time i got through to the Belfast call center, and
      1. i could actually understand him unlike the other ones i had spoke to and
      2. he was very helpful and has said yes there is a problem and put me on tier 3s call back list

Whether they will or not i don't know but it's the furthest i've got with their support.

      keep the tips coming

      thanks

I would think you would get a bit more speed than that, you said you are on the master socket, have you tried the test socket under the faceplate?
