      I had the same problem with BT billing me after I'd switched to Sky. They send they'd refund in but nothings appeared on my statement yet. Apparently Sky were meant to tell them when I'd migrated but hadn't.

      @ SuperSeven

      I am note sure if this is the case as BT's website had a bit about migrating to another ISP and it nothing on there about cancelling BT although I suppose they could have left this off on purpose

      @highinthesky

      I am not sure if I am owed anything as I think my billing dates for both BT and SKY are quite near each other but I guess I will have to wait and see.

      I have now migrated (BT product to BT product) 4 times and have never had to tell my old ISP to cancel my old account it should be done automatically. I would never in any circumstances tell my old isp to cancel anything until after the migration because most of them are stupid enough to view that as a cease and put that on your order instead.

      Just work out when your 30 days have finished and make sure you dont get billed again.

      Sorry to dig this up again, but I got an invoice from Tiscali today saying that I owed them 15.99 for broadband between 1/10/2006-31/10/2006 despite being activated on Sky on 21/9/2006. Will be phoning them later and will let you know if I get refunded or not!

      Interesting! I was told by BTYahoo when i asked for my MAC number and to inform them I was leaving that my service would be ended in September as I was already paid up in advance. So i cancelled my direct debit with them at the bank.

      Lo and behold!!! Got a bill from them yesterday asking for another 26.99. Phoned them up several times but as per usual they're always busy. Sent them an e-mail but again still waiting for a reply. What is it with these people?

      My credit card has been hit by Orange for 17.99, I checked the online billing and it said it was for 15/10/06 - 14/11/06. I migrated over to Sky before the 15th so phoned up to get a refund.

      20 minutes on the phone and two escallations later they confirmed my account was still showing as active so closed it then were still arguing that they bill me in arrears and that the online billing statements were wrong and said they couldn't view them as my account was now no longer active - they didn't recon on me having taken a screen print of the bill before access was cut off.

      Eventually they tried to back this up with some account history, until I pointed out that I signed up on a deal that provided the first month free.

      I've been promised a refund but they can't credit my credit card until the next billing cycle in a month's time..... personally, I wouldn't be surprised if they billed me again!

      If you have direct debits set up with your existing ISP cancel them as soon as you migrate, they can then chase you for any sums owing.

      @ forbury lion,

      You could always call up your credit card company and explian they took the money after your service had ceased. They will do a charge back and demand the money on your behalf.

      @ Dave58 - I have never had any problems getting through to BT on the free phone number on their site. I was put on hold for 10 minutes or so while he cancelled my account and so far no more money has come out of my account.
