The latest VDSL faceplates fit without changing the wires. It slips in behind the existing faceplate, so you have nothing to worry about there.

      Firstly get the faceplate changed.

If that solves the problem, as we anticipate, please feel free to ask them alarm company to read this thread and to reimburse you the cost of the faceplate and recompense your time.

It is fairly obvious that their employee has not done his job correctly as it was he who connected the extension.

He should have double checked the wiring and that it was not interfering with your broadband.

Do you know what work they did?

Can you take pictures of the boxes etc

Pretty sure we can help you sort the issues out without having to spend 65

      Re: Urgent Broadband Help Needed

What he did was in the upstairs main box he had to attach a wire to make the box downstairs active (as only the main box was active at the time) he did this and then wired the alarm that is downstairs to the box downstairs so it notifies me by phone when it goes off.
I literally noticed my broadband going on and off all the time, and was told on here the box he fitted the alarm to needed a micro filter which it didn’t have so I got him back and he fitted a filter and the broadband seemed okay, but then it kept going again and speed was very low, that’s when I rang Sky and they tested the line and said I have a wiring problem (because when I plugged my router directly into test socket speeds went up but then when I put it back into the front socket they dropped again.

      Re: Urgent Broadband Help Needed

Take a picture of the downstairs and upstairs box with the plate removed, so we can see the actual wiring?
