      Constant timeouts/MS issues

      As the title says really.
      Around mid august (closer to the 17th to be exact) I started noticing a lot lag/latency issues in World of Wacraft, skype, basically any online application I seem to use.
      At first I simply thought it was the result of someone else in the house overusing it. Of course it wasn't that.
      To answer some questions that I assume will be asked,

      We're on Sky unlimited.
      The router is a Sagem F@ST2304

      The router details:
      System Details
      Manufacturer Sagemcom
      Model Number F@ST2304
      Firmware Version 5.14.6.1a4N
      ADSL Firmware Version A2pD030n.d23b


      Nothing has changed in the physical set up of the router, there are microfilters leading up to the router.
      Earlier today I was put on a gaming profile and was told it would 'definitely fix the issue', again, it has not.

      The router statistics:

      I've also done a few ping tests over the past few days, I've yet to do one since the 'gaming profile' has been set on the connection.
      However I'll definitely let one run in an hour or two for a while and come back with those results too.

      The results were often around 40 - 50ms average with a max of 500. Usually with a packet loss of 1-2%
      When it should be around, 0.1 - 0.3% perhaps?

      Anyway,
      Thanks a lot any help at all would be appreciated as it's making this a nightmare!

      are your noise margins steady if not then possible interference also are your using wireless or Ethernet? , try from test socket with just router and a differnt filter for any change in noise levels attenuation or margin

      Thanks for the reply, I've tried both ethernet & wireless - getting timeouts on both of them unfortunately.

      you may have to elaborate a little more on the second part I'm afraid, rather good with most hardware/technical stuff..
      but once it comes to internet issues - NOPE.

      How to test your ADSL in the Master Test Socket

      Then repost your stats from there?

      Sorry, little confused would this be an ethernet cable straight from the master socket to a laptop and I perform a ping test.. orrr?

      I know this is probably face-palming'ly obvious, but I'm really not great with internet problems at all.

      Thanks for the quick response though once again.
      Plug your router in the test socket, then look at your stats, either wired or wireless, we are looking for a better attenuation etc

      Just to add to this, could this perhaps be the firmware issue I've been hearing about? As it genuinely did happen out of nowhere.

      just to add to this, not sure if its relevant (or even useful) information, but still.
      pinged both google.com/bbc.co.uk while connected to the test socket.

      bbc: packets sent = 499, received = 493, lost = 6 (1% loss)
      min ms = 31 maximum ms = 618 ms, average = 72 ms

      google: sent = 511, rec = 504, lost = 7 (1% loss)
      min ms = 36 max ms = 591 avg. = 75 ms

      Your attenuation or speed has not improved. If that was from the test socket, ie you unscrewed the face plate etc then that pretty mush rules out any internal wiring etc

      You should be getting between 3 and 4 meg imo

      Maybe something has happened recently, that has affected it.

      As for the FW then not afaik it was the 2504n that got the duff one.

      I would ring Sky and say that there is an issue, and tell them that you are in the test socket, as they will ask you to do that. You should definitely get better speed and hopefully they will spot the issue, unless your exchange is congested etc
