      Interference on landline

      Hi guys.
I've recently moved into a house with everything sky related set up: tv, broadband, line rental etc.
Now I've plugged my cordless phones into the phone points, which have been set up by sky with the adapter to stop the broadband interfering. Yet there's still an intermittent amount of it. It comes and goes, sometimes the line is clear, but then it goes so I cannot hear the other person, and as far as I'm aware, they're not affected.
However, when I unplug the broadband from the phone line, this noise disappears completely. Hence feeling this is the problem.

So if anyone can help me fix this I'd be grateful. It's not the most convienent thing to be unplugging the broadband every time I need to use the phone.
      Thanks.

Some cordless phones use the same 2.4GHz frequency as WiFi routers. Check what yours is doing.

      Re: Interference on landline

Try a corded phone to see if the same issues effect that.
You could also try turning off the wireless on the router to see if that has the same effect as unplugging the router.
Are there filters on everything that is plugged into a phone socket - sky box etc.

There are filters every where there should be.
I should add I have used these phones in my previous house with BT broadband/router, and had no problems at all.
The manual says the OF is 1880-1900 MHz

      Re: Interference on landline

Could you try as Dave has asked and use a corded telephone?

Since it isn't using the 2.4GHz frequency, it is possible that the PSU is faulty.

      Re: Interference on landline

I've just dug out the corded phone, and it has the same issue when plugged in. I can still hear the same static noise when I pick up the receiver.

In this case you need to report it as a fault to your call provider (i.e. Sky if you have Sky Talk).

      Re: Interference on landline

It is possible you have a dodgy batch of filters. I remember this happened a few years ago when several members had the same problem. Try using your old BT filters if you still have them. If you don't, unplug all your phones except one and double up the filters it is using, ie., plug another filter into the one already being used, also unplug the STB. Has that helped any?

      Re: Interference on landline

When I had this problem it was the power supply of the router that was leaking the noise interference into the router and on to the voice side.
