      Strange increase in speed sync

I live just under 250 yds from the exchange.

I have always synced at just under 1 mb upstream and just under 20 mb downstream.

I just went into my router settings to add a port forward and noticed that my sync speed has increased.

Now they say 1157 upstream and 21603 downstream.

      How can that be?

      I have a 20 mb service.

      I am baffled.

      But why now?

      What has happened?

It has to be something in the exchange.

I noticed yesterday that my surfing speed was noticeably faster.

That's why. I think DLM may be running on your line. If it proves stable you will stay much as you are, is it is not it will go back down. Sky are a bit naughty running DLM training without advising the user. I know DLM runs continuously on the line, but in its management mode it does not usually increase the speed, only reduce it.

Re: Strange increase in speed sync

Why would they be doing this out of the blue?

      I have been with them since 06 / 07 (?).

Whatever has been done has increased stability. I did used to have occasional resyncs, but since this has happened there have been none!

If you log into your online Sky account and click on 'My Broadband' link, it should tell you when DLM was last run (or if it's currently running)

      It says this>>>>>

      Your Connection Details

Testing on your broadband connection began on <startdate> and will be completed within 10 days.

You may notice some variations in your broadband speed and this is normal. We are aiming to give you the best quality experience. Please leave your router on during this time.

Check back here to confirm the maximum speeds supported by your connection.

I think it has always said that!
