Thumbs up 1st Day and impressed

So my connection went active today from Xilo (only reason to save money) and came from 21000kbps to 4000kbps pre-dlm.

I sent an email to sky asking them to disable DLM and enable gamer mode. I provided them with my previous line statistics etc.

Within an hour my router reconnected and stats are as follows:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 17307 kbps 1161 kbps
Line Attenuation 22.5 dB 7.9 dB
Noise Margin 7.1 dB 8.8 dB

Previous attenuation was 23db so a slight improvement as well.

Very happy with the service and not even had it a day. Thankfully I dont need to wait 10 days for DLM to finish, but in a couple of weeks ill get it tweaked as I think there is still slight room for improvement.

Not bad for 17.25 a month (for 12months) including line rental and 80 cashback. Result!

My setup is 2504n to WNDR3700v2 (for dual band).

If you would have had some patience, then DLM would have ended up probably higher than that. You're probably already uncapped to either the 18016/1216 or 20000/1216 profile, so there is no improvement a manual reconfiguring will do.

Welcome to Sky's Broadband Unlimited service.

Just for reference though, different routers can report different Line Attenuations on the same line. .5dB is not too much of a difference, but it should help you gain a few more kbps from your connection speed.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

Different modem's report different attenuation as scubbie said
depending on which modem i connect it reports 17.0 to 18.5 db as mine
it doesnt make any difference with the sync though

the one that reports 18.5db has the highest sync

The only way you will get more speed is to use a non Sky router and tweak the noise margin. What you can get it up to depends on the profile you are on, either 18016/1216 or 20000/1216 and how severe you are with the tweaking.

      Re: 1st Day and impressed

Just an update. I requested sky turn DLM back on so I can see what it sets to automatically. Again, no hassle they just done it.

If its lower then ill just request an uncapped profile and ill use my DGN2000 to adjust the target snr (had a quick play with a target snr of 3 and was about 19000 in peak time and ping of 24 on speedtest).

Out of interest I see some with a ping of 11 in the signatures, is this using the DLM ?

      Thanks for the replies.

      Re: 1st Day and impressed

24ms is best case for you
as there's no fast path profiles for the sky broadcom gear

and tbh on a 22.5 db attenuation your doing well at 19meg on a 3db snr
dlm will never set you that high dlm will lower your max sync due to massive errors on such a low margin
and if your sync was over 19003 your already on the max 20000 1216 Profile

      How about them apples
