      Re: lift & shift

i should point out that i've done all the troubleshooting sky have asked of me in order to eliminate my internal wiring, & then some:

brand new 2504n with new psu & adsl cable
      another new phone
4 unused sky supplied microfilters (usually use nte2005 pre-filtered faceplate)
tried test socket many times to troubleshoot & now permanently in there (for last 11 days)

1 sky line test failed with just phone directly into test socket.

Can I just ask, has the lift & shift resolved this issue for you?

      Re: lift & shift

well it's been 24hrs since i lost dial tone & that's it. nothing more.

cst said it would all be done yesterday but can take up to midnight.

the router hasn't re-sync'd (apart from by me) so i doubt that side of things has been done.
i also still have no dial tone.
if i dial out, nothing happens. if i call home on my mobile, i hear the ringing in the mobiles earpiece but my home phone doesn't ring.

tried my other phone in the the test socket but no joy.

maybe it's actually good news & they've found the cause while they were there?

      Re: lift & shift

had several dropouts & re-sync's this last hour, so either work is being done or noise is still present.
      still no dial tone.
cst are due to call me tomorrow to check everything went well.

      Re: lift & shift

guess i still have noise on the line.

currently at 9450 / 822 but give it 10 minutes & i'll be at either 20 meg or 4 meg, depending on the level of noise when the router re-sync's after the umpteenth dropout. attention figures are high & noise margins are all over the shop. this is what my my line has been like since 26/5/12.

      still no dial tone.

can't wait for sky to call tomorrow.
i've already expressed my opinion to sky cst, re: bto's non-existent incentive to do a good job for a sky customer.

      NOPE.

the cst lady called earlier than arranged & i missed it, but she left a message confirming the lift & shift was done on tuesday 10th.
she went on to say that she could see from my stats that i still had problems, so did a line test & it failed.
she's going to contact bto & will call me tomorrow.

i still have no dial tone, bb is currently at 7491 / 758*& has dropped out atleast 20 times already today.

      happy days

      it's actually quite funny now.

cst phoned today, unaware that i have no working phone line, but adamant that i have no broadband.
the lady was a bit confused when i pointed out it's the other way round & i even had a wan uptime of
12 minutes (which is good for my line at present).
she said that if she calls my landline, it's ringing but must be somewhere else???
also, that she simply can't 'see' my broadband from her end.

she's on the case & i'll be updated on monday.

      currently on 19999 / 1175, pings to bbc.co.uk 23.4- 24.1. how it should be.

Easy by the sounds of things - misjumper issue. Ask them to either/both SELT and tone test. Requires an Openreach frames engineer.

      Re: lift & shift

It sounds like only one wire of the pair is making contact. This will allow broadband to work after a fashion, but will kill the voice line.
