      Downstream noise margin

Lately my internet has gone a lot slower and I noticed the downstream went from near 14000 down to 8000 now back up to 10000 but then i looked at the Downstream noise margin which is anywhere from 0.4 - 0.6 so I looked into it and saw the usual was around 7 so I was wondering if my speeds have lowered because of this low noise margin and what could be done to fix it?

      Thanks.

      Re: Downstream noise margin

A low noise margin is caused by interference on the line. Can you first take your stats and post the please.

Then remove the faceplate and plug into the Test socket and again post the result.

If you don't have a Test socket, remove everything you have connected to the phone line, except the router and post the stats.

You should use only the ADSL cable supplied by Sky to connect the router, do not use an extension of any kind.
