Anyone paying that for a Sky router must be crazy or just too rich! The Sky D-link is model no, 2640S and cannot be set up to use a VPN, this must be done on the PC. There is no reason why a VPN should not work through it.

Re: Looking for some basic VPN advice

From what I've read about Sky routers and VPN, I don't think they support it. There maybe a work around but I can't find any info.
Maybe another option for you could be, buy a VPN router, and piggy back the new router onto your sky router.
I can't tell you if this will work or not I'm afraid.
Maybe someone with a bit more Knowledge about this can help you out.

From what I've read about Sky routers and VPN, I don't think they support it.
Only one Sky router had problems with VPN, the original Sagem and a firmware update was available to fix this. In many cases where VPN did not work, the reason was on the other side of the keyboard.

Re: Looking for some basic VPN advice

A few have reported issues with specific VPNs for work. The VPNs here are known to work with other members and as Tom has suggested these require software to be installed.

There are some routers available now which have specific VPN support abilities, but this isn't required in this case.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

      That's how it works yes.
If you have a look at the BTGuard site, it's got a couple of set up videos on how they work.
      It looks pretty straight forward.

Re: Looking for some basic VPN advice

Id recommend Astrill. I've used them for a long time I have over 143 servers to use. Using it right now to watch US TV. I get full speed on 100mbps. something I don't get with HideMyAss and the others i've tried.

You can get the program to start with windows so your always protected. Dialer is just choose server and turn it on. free trial if you wanna try it.
