Just a quick message to say that when I tried to log on this morning (7.15 a.m.) the '1' light,as I call it, wasn't illuminated and of course I was not able to go any further. However,I've now dropped in for lunch (midday) and I'm back up and running again. Is there anything I need to check in the system (not too techy thanks) or is this the infamous dropped connection that I've read about on here before? And therefore is it simply a BT/Sky connection issue? As always cheers in advance.

I would say its a drop in your connection, I would just keep an eye on it as if it happens again I'd speak to Sky and get them to check.

Er good luck to you. I've had BB MAX for just over a week and the connection drops at least 10-15 times a day. It then takes for ever to re-connect - although I quickly found that if you de-power the router for ten secs and then re-connect power you get a connection in about 1-1.5 mins. I normally keep an IE window open on the http://192.168.0.1 address so I can monitor the connection state (user is admin and password is SKY)
I've talked to tech support (hopeless: the comment elsewhere on this site that tech support gives you the impression that they are just keeping you on the line to score the 7-10p per min they are charging on the 0870 number gave me a frisson of deja vu) and I actually got through to Tier 3 support once which involved a 40 minute call (@10p/min) with little conversation as they 'monitor the line' but the occasional comment like "gosh, 13.7Meg, you've got a quick connection".
Yes but a) I've paid for 16Meg and b) it's not much use if I have a quick connection but Sky's servers won't give me access to the web! They haven't a clue what the problem is (but I darkly suspect that it's just a server capacity problem and will go away once SKY add some more kit and deal with the flood of new orders) and I am 'monitoring the situation' at their request......they day before yesterday the connection dropped one minute after the end of a highly tactical eBay auction (I got it!).....if it had been one minute before.......GRRRH.
This may be tempting fate but I've been on line for 4 hours now without the connection failing. Hurray. Maybe in a year we'll all have a great SKY service and be able to look back on this as a distant (but unpleasant) dream.

Thanks for your comments Pete (aka Hornet) and Stephen. Like you say, it's little consolation when you've got something reasonably important on the go but we live in hope eh!BTW I think you make a valid point about the server capacity Stephen and once the dust has settled a stable connection should occur. Also thanks for the router link - very handy.
