      Router shows connected at usual speed but slow.

      Hello everyone. Hope someone can help with this. I have had a trouble free Internet experience for the past year. 20mbps down and 1mbps up. I can check the router stats and it is connected at that plus my download speed is 2mbps real. Everything was fine until this morning. Still connected at the same speed but speed test under a meg down. Upload speed is fine as usual. It's just the download speed.

      Very strange issue. Changed the router I use to the official sky one and it's the same. Rebooted the router a few times and changed the filters but no change. Anyone experiencing anything like this? I'm in Kent South East.

      Hi there. I am also from medway, near New Road & therefore probably on the same exchange as you. This is a strange problem - what speeds are you getting? This morning I performed a speedtest & everything was fine- 14down & 0.8 up which is normal. Then a few minutes later I did another test with horrid results! Extremely high ping & speeds hardly reaching 1mb Now it's remaining like this...

      I phoned Sky and they said they found no problem on my line. What is going on?

      At least I'm not the only one! Yes, exactly the same thing as you. I am connected at 19434 down and 994 up. This is obviously a problem at the exchange. I'm gonna phone them would you do it too?
      The more phonecalls they get regarding this issue the better.

      Note: My speeds now are half of what I normally get. I normally get 20mb down (2mbps real) and a mb up (100kbps real). Compared to earlier on I was getting under a mb down but the upload was unnafected. Maybe it's because everyone has gone to bed lol

      I will phone them again tomorrow if the problem remains. This is so annoying - im unable to stream any Youtube videos & general browsing is so slow. Im still recieving 1mb download instead on my usual 14-15

      Looks like this is a big issue. They said that they will investigate, when I called them earlier. Nothing is worng with the exchange by the exhange check page

      Sky acknowledged no such faults in our areas during the multiple times I called them, just the usual check this check that policy stuff. However it's obvious something is wrong as ive seen numerous other forum posts from people in Kent and the Medway area with seemingly the exact same problem. This is getting annoying now...

      Well, they said that they will investigate. If they don't get back to me tomorrow like they said I'm getting back on the blower as I don't take any crap from them. If they don't get it sorted I'll go elsewhere for my internet

      Wow.

      Spent an hour on the phone to Sky BB help - he had me jumping through hoops, changing settings, rebooting the router, climbing under the desk to change filters etc.

      All the time, stating that there were "no known faults in that area".

      Having read the number of threads/posts from people in the Kent area suffering from IDENTICAL problems, you have to wonder just how blind/ignorant Sky must be.

      What really gets my back up, is the support guy damned near had me spending 35 on a new router, because it was "obvious the router's faulty". Had I not had a spare router sitting in my cupboard, I would have coughed up too!!!

      I went from a 11mb quoted/7mb actual service to a 0.25mb actual service yesterday morning. Having to use WiFi through my phone to access the internet, and thankfully I found these posts or I would have been shelling out for equipment I did not need!!!

      Remember that Sky does send out customer surveys every now and then. I hope you made a note of his name

      After a day or so of this, things seemed OK again yesterday afternoon.

      However this morning is back to very slow speeds with the router reporting the 17mb connection we normally have. At the moment I'm lucky to get 2mb speeds.

      Extremely frustrating. It must be something to do with the Kent area, but why Sky won't acknowledge this is beyond me.
