Has sky banned me from visiting certain sites?

This is a discussion on Has sky banned me from visiting certain sites? within the Sky Broadband help forums, part of the Sky Broadband help and support category; I wouldn't be suprised if Sky has stopped me visiting this site, But I wouldn't like to ring them up ...

Has sky banned me from visiting certain sites?

I wouldn't be suprised if Sky has stopped me visiting this site, But I wouldn't like to ring them up and ask because of obvious reasons when you know the name of the site ( TPB ).
I can access the site via a proxy server but if I just try and connect to the site I get the message
'Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to 194.71.107.15' in google chrome and in Internet Explorer the page just doesn't load. Any ideas?

Yep - TPB has now been officially blocked, as of 3pm today.

Take a look at a couple of recent threads on the topic:

The Pirate Bay must be blocked by UK ISPs, court rules

Dutch court bans Pirate Party links to The Pirate Bay

Re: Has sky banned me from visiting certain sites?

      Hi there,

The goverment are having a crackdown on Pirate Bay and are making most ISPs block it:
More here: BBC News - The Pirate Bay must be blocked by UK ISPs, court rules
Specifically about Sky here: BBC News - Sky blocks access to The Pirate Bay file-sharing site

They have blocked it from all Sky users, although I hate piracy myself so I cant really disagree with it!

Re: Has sky banned me from visiting certain sites?

Just to explain before anyone says that we are censoring URLs for the TPB - We are not, we are just removing them, as the court have given a court order to some ISPs that that site is to be blocked. Therefore we have no intention of providing or allowing links to mirror sites etc as that is in essence going against against the court order, indirectly.

Re: Has sky banned me from visiting certain sites?

The simple truth is that if anyone wants to find the answers, then a quick search using Google will locate the information.

However as Jed has said, we can't post the actual links.

Besdies, if things get fun and Sky and the other ISPs block the new addresses, then I would suggest that you bookmark the sources you find as I have a feeling that they will be updated periodically.
