Ahh rite I see, the Wide area network up time is what tells me dlm is kicked in because it reset.

      Thanks for the info mate.

Will the noise margin drop every day or will it slow down throughout the week.

It may drop every day but some find it remains unchanged for a day or two, it depends on the individual line. Some lines are fully set after about 3 days, but others take the full 10.

      yes, i'd say there is
dlm uses a target noise margin of 3, 6 or 7db
with each increase in speed, the noise margin will drop so you've a way to go yet
infact, on some occasions people have had a jump in speed without the noise margin changing, so it's all looking good

Re: Sky broadband unlimited ordered. Any pointers?

I think dlm has finished on my line now, here is my stats.

      System Up Time: 190:33:57
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN MER 1477467 35252219 0 61803 0 31:58:28
      LAN Down 0 0 0 0 0 190:33:57
      WLAN Up 21105718 14017753 0 5435 0 190:33:36
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 14304 kbps 1117 kbps
Line Attenuation 30.5 dB 18.0 dB
Noise Margin 6.0 dB 8.6 dB

Was on the phone with sky checking some things out and the guy said the maximum my line could handle is 17mb, so will they up it to that for me?

Re: Sky broadband unlimited ordered. Any pointers?

Looking at your current stats, I would suggest that they are the best that a manual configuration can provide. DLM may be able to lower the noise margin a little more, but only if the line is good.

Ideally you will need this software installed on each device that you connect to the Internet. There are some non-Sky routers with built in Traffic Meters which IMHO are better.

Since no one responded to this, could I suggest that you search around for something which will do what you are looking for? Remember though that Sky Broadband Unlimited IS unlimited. The only purpose the software would be for is for your interest as Sky do not throttle people for downloading or uploading too much.

Here's a snapshot of a purposefully busy time on my connection last November & last months 'normal' figures (others have managed higher figures on ADSL):

      dlm may still be running.
many people have reported that it didn't reset every night whilst it was active.
you'll only know for sure that it's finished when the wan uptime reaches 72 hours.
