      DNS Problems

Over the weekend I have had problems loading certain sites eg Ebay ,BBCIplayer on Three different computers and also on different browsers also BBCIplayer on the Wii did not work. Other sites were OK.
After I Googled this type of problem , one suggestion was that it was a DNS lookup problem. I changed the DNS on the network adaptor from automatic to 8.8.8.8 8.8.8.4 (A google DNS server) and all sites worked ?

Has anyone else had this problem ?

      Geoff

      Re: DNS Problems

Same has happened to me and as soon as I changed my DNS setting everything worked fine. So should I contact sky? Or is it a matter of resetting my router?

      Thanks

      Re: DNS Problems

Sky had a problem in some areas of England which resulted in the DNS servers failing on certain sites. I believe this is now fixed so you can try using the Sky servers again. I would advise using OpenDNS actually, they are more dependable than Sky and if used properly can give you a bit of on line protection. OpenDNS - Cloud Internet Security and DNS
