i never had as much slow down on aol , so i know my line is capable of delivering.
after 6 im getting speeds as low as 20-25kbs and web pages take ages to open
I can live with the terrible peek-time (in other words any time before 1am) download speeds, but as with Mark I also suffer from very slow web-page loading and in some cases web pages will fail to load (this also happens with my email accounts through outlook)... my f5 key is taking a real battering!

      just a quick update:

rang sky earlier in the week to ask about my why speed falls during peak hours. Spoke to a nice chap in tier3 he done loads of test and said that he could not understand why my speed drop so much in the evening, taking into account my line/noise stats, distance from exchange..etc. well he said that he needed me to ring in the evening to do the same test and try and determine the problem. Called this evening and gave tier1 my call incident number.... but tier3 as of yesterday wont accept anymore calls... so im waiting for a call back... lets see....it better no be during the day time

      Hi All,

At least i feel at home in this thread!

I've got much the same probs as the rest here but... mine can some times be fine at peak times and bad durring the day!

The other day arround 7pm it dropped down to 673 bytes!!

There is a BT speed checker but you need your Adsl user name and password from in the router. Check this thread.. http://www.skyuser.co.uk-Router Forum- Top Sticky

These are my results from the other day, as the service has been 'busy' all evening.
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:
IP profile for your line is - 7150 kbps
      DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 8128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 2298 kbps

My understanding of this is that... I connect to the exchange at 8128, i'm set to download at 7150 as a max but i was only working at 2298.
Not great but if only it stayed like that all the time!

I'm 850m, as the 'crow flys', from the exchange and i always get a constant 8128down 448up.

      673bps -> 760kbps is some what unstable!

      Hi,

This morning i managed to get a new test done...

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:
IP profile for your line is - 7150 kbps
      DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 8128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 6557 kbps

A lot lot better but as we all know... it won't stay like that!

I am having the same problems as everyone else. Speed drops off to next to nothing in the evenings. I was on Pipex before and speed was fine 24/7.

      Howdy fella, another Pipex refugee!

It's a shame Pipex ignored there existing long term user base, I'm sure we wouldn't be suffering this god damn awful transition... bugger!

Well it is 8.45 in the evening and my speed is the same as what it is a 7 in the morning and this is the first time since I moved over to Sky a couple of weeks ago that my speed in the evening has not slowed down. Perhaps the reason behind the slow speeds all day on Sunday was because this was being looked at and was being sorted. Long may it continue.
