      Broadband down, best way to report it?

      Broadband has been down for a few hours now, phone line is dead as well. Mentioned it to @skyhd on twitter and they said there's no outages in my area, sky status page says no problems reported, what's the best way to report this, bearing in mind my landline is down and i don't really want to call on my mobile. Or should i just leave it? (assuming they would know about any problems anyway)

      This used to happen fairly regularly in my area last year, every month or 2, the whole area would have a sky outage, i was informed by a technician that the faulty hardware at the exchange was being replaced and i shouldn't experience this again, but it seems to be back again!

      I'm connected fine through my neighbours BT connection so i think that rules out a problem between the house and the exchange.

      I would try and ring Sky if possible. At least they will then know that there is an issue.

      Or just leave it and see what happens, but it could be hours etc

      Have you tried the exchange checker thingy from Sky?

      Yeah, tried that, says my exchange is not affected. Is there a local rate number i can call them on? the 0844 number is 20p a minute on my mobile.

      Spoke to sky and there's nothing they can do about it apparently after running a few tests. They have referred the case to BT who are supposed to be calling me back within the next 72 hours, fault at the exchange. Is this a common to have such unreliable equipment at the exchange or have they just been 'fixing' stuff when they should be replacing it?

      Also, BT internet haven't improved since i used to be with them, despite having fairly good connection speeds, youtube seems to mysteriously slow down to a crawl after 5pm (something BT used to tell me was down to youtube being busy, nothing to do with them)

      That'll be the fault logged to Openreach, who typically will have it resolved within 48 hours.
