      im on sky unlimited
i just been on the phone to sky and got my line upgraded by 2megs. so right now I'm running on a 8.6mb connection. i asked them if i was running on adsl or adsl2. they go i was running on adsl but they changed it to adsl2 so it increased by 2 megs from my normal 7.2mbps connection.

i asked them about ads2+ and they go my line is not capable of adsl2+ and go 8.6 is max i will get. i know my line will keep dropping speed even if they gave me 2 megs more but im not sure if my line is capable of ads2+.

this is my new stats after being on the phone to sky. can i get any more speed? my exchange is 1.3 miles away and done a online test to show i can get 14 to 17megs?

theoretically you should get some more.

pop your downstream attenuation figure into this checker & it'll calculate it for you

it shows i can do about 14megs on ads2+. i dont get it why sky customer service claim i cannot get adsl2+... should i give them a call again or should i just stick with my adsl2 line? i really require faster connection but sky claim 8megs is max i can get.

I doubt very much that you are on ADSL2, Sky do not usually use this mode. The increase in your noise margin suggests you are on ADSL2+. ADSL2 using the same frequency range as G.DMT so, in theory, the noise margin should not increase. Have you plugged into the TEST socket using only the ADSL cable supplied by Sky?

Probably about 9 times out of 10 poor sync speed is down to poor internal wiring. Using the Test socket as described will confirm this, or rule it out.
