I think you are right. Although the operator did say on the phone something about 3bd 6db and so on as settings. They did say that the line reports errors and that they might send out an engineer to check it. Someone had suggested corroded points but as you say. The speed is not unbearable and is an improvement so hopefully this will do for now. I will keep an eye and report any changes.

I wasn't implying that "my line can take this so yours can take this". The Kitz max speed calculator says the best sync speed you should get is about 7000Kbps so I was just giving the best possible speed. I do realise that every line is different, but I think that you should be getting a sync of about 6400, but maybe that's not possible.

I was only being optimistic .

Optimism is good Especially when the UK seem to be lagging with their broadband speeds. Its good that we all push for more.

Our own checker is a bit more optimistic and gives 7-8Mb, but that is on a very good line.

Sorry to hyjack the thread but I didn't feel it was worth starting a new one for 1 question.

Is it possible to ask Sky to uncap the line to see what it can get?

Call Sky to see if they can help. If you would like to post your stats in a new thread first though, perhaps members can see if it will be possible.
