yet again bad ping and line errors

hi guys same problem yet again over the past 2-3 months my line errors have got worse and my gaming ping has went up i phoned sky up yesterday to be told theres nothing more they can do not sure if it was a low level tech guy i was dealing with because every time i asked him to do something he had to get his supervsor

i have borrowed the newer sky router to test against my old one just incase it was that
      heres is my stats
DIRECT FROM MASTER SOCKET USING ADSL NATION FILTERED FACE PLATE
      ADSL Link

      Downstream

      Upstream

      Connection Speed

      7007 kbps

      796 kbps

      Line Attenuation

      48.0 dB

      29.2 dB

      Noise Margin

      11.4 dB

      11.5 dB

      TEST SOCKET STATS

      Connection Speed

      7004 kbps

      796 kbps

      Line Attenuation

      48.0 dB

      29.2 dB

      Noise Margin

      5.9 dB

      12.0 dB

I also have noticed my attenuation has dropped on the downstream but increased on the upstream

and my ping was stable for a good few months at 30-35ms now its showing

is there anything i can do i have done a silent line test and there was no noise on the line tryed microfilters ,diffrent cables, even a newer model router

what would cause this deterioration of my stats and ping

Your figures are really good from the faceplate. It is hard to see what is wrong unless for some reason your delay has been increased. I think all you can do is call Sky and ask them to make sure your delay is set to 8. They seem to have increased your sync speed again, which could be down to DLM working on your line. Have a look at your broadband account and see if it mentions it being activated.

I think the poorer figures direct from the Test socket are down to the plug not making proper contact in the socket.

Your noise margin has dropped right down, so it looks like your original reading from the faceplate was wrong for some reason. You are still better off than you were straight into the test socket.

There have been some recent changes to DLM, so the 7dB Noise Margin is no longer always the target.

Hopefully this will help many people, but you will only get the lower noise margin if your line can support it.

The noise on the line increases as the day go by, which results in the noise margin decreasing. Normally it is nothing to worry about but if it reduces a lot that could be the source of your problems. The lower the noise margin the more chance there is of the error rate on your line rising. What you can try is rebooting your router when the margin is low. This should result in it resyncing with a higher margin and at a lower speed. This should stabilize your line, reducing the errors and improving your ping.
