Cool Where did my extra 2mbps just come from?

Not that i am complaining but thought someone here could explain this phenomenon!

I'm on broadband max and for a while managed to get connection speeds according to router of about 5mbps, eventually things setting and have been solid without issues at about 4mbps with speedtest.net reporting that in reality my download speed is just over 3mb

I always thought this was the best I could expect based upon my location

I switched to sky line rental at the end of last month and saw no change whatsoever and didn't expect anything

I the last couple of days I seem to have picked up by 2mbps from somewhere. Router reported connection speed is 6140kbps and speedtest.net reckons download speed is 5mbps

Great! But where did this suddenly come from? Here are the current router stats, other than connection speeds they look the same as I always remembered them...

Downstream: connection speed 6140kbps, line attenuation 53db, Noise margin 5db
      Upstream: 796kpbs, 32db, 14db

maybe your exchange has been enabled for WBC and you have been put onto it. It would make sense.

BT plan to close the ADSL Max service down when all customers have been migrated.

I thought that there were only 3 current ADSL packages from Sky: Connect (ADSL1), HomeLite and Unlimited (both LLU & ADSL2+).

Were those on Sky Max not automatically moved across to Unlimited?

As far as I know it's been enabled at the exchange for quite some time, but I guess I don't know if I've been on it or not

Oh sorry I'm on unlimited don't know why I said max!

      A-ha! Sky web site says....
"Testing on your broadband connection began on 21/03/2012 and will be completed within 10 days."

Interesting because I switched to sky line rental a month ago and I guess they only just got round to testing it. I wouldn't be surprised if the speed drops again now I've seen this

      No problem.

As for DLM, I would say that the My sky page is showing the wrong information for a few members at the moment.

Thanks. It's been running at this connection speed the last couple of days so I hope it stays there....just about to play some Xbox to see what difference it makes. My ping is still pretty good after I got max delays sorted a year or two back...

when you switched to sky line rental it would of run DLM and probably set you to a better speed and latency will have been put to the same as it was 8/8. you can benefit from DLM sometimes

Although you had Sky rental you might not have been put on the SVBN right away. When you are moved to that the DLM runs again.
