Thats the 100 Dollar question.
Basically to something that sets the DNS to user defined.

an example like dnsIfcsList=usr0& OR dnsIfcsList=man0&

but as I say I don't know what the EXACT command is.

Essentially whats happening still is that the DNS's are being set by the ISP (SKY) and the user defined ones we are setting are being ignored as they are not active

Re: Changing the DNS Setting on Sagem F@st 2504n in Programmers Notepad

I think the problem may be that the auto or dynamic address is not being disabled. This is what the relevant line shows in a non Sky Sagem.
<dns dynamic="disable" primary="208.67.222.222" secondary="208.67.220.220" domain=""/>
The auto setting is disabled by unticking a box in the web interface. I will try inputting a different set of servers in the Backup file, restore it and see what happens.

OK, that worked I successfully changed the servers to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

I don't know if it is going to help with the Sky router, but it does prove that changing the Backup file works.

Re: Changing the DNS Setting on Sagem F@st 2504n in Programmers Notepad

Just a thought, I noticed that there are number of variables on the router where no values are entered at all.
I wonder if, rather than trying to specify the command for user defined, we simply remove the refernce to SKY all together

ie dnsIfcsList=atm0& BECOMES dnsIfcsList=0&
and dnsIfcsList =ppoa0& BECOMES dnsIfcsList=0&

Thoughts?

I just tried putting the manual entries into where first suggested, then editing this bit towards the bottom of the config.

<DNSEnabled>TRUE</DNSEnabled>
<DNSServers>208.67.222.222,208.67.220.220</DNSServers>

to

<DNSEnabled>FALSE</DNSEnabled>
<DNSServers>208.67.222.222,208.67.220.220</DNSServers>

And it still don't work.

Did you try editing the following

dnsIfcsList=atm0& BECOMES dnsIfcsList=0&
and dnsIfcsList =ppoa0& BECOMES dnsIfcsList=0&

Just tried this, it breaks DNS completely.

As in no values are shown in the router GUI

Yes see above post, the only thing I didn't try was that and then this

<DNSEnabled>FALSE</DNSEnabled>
<DNSServers>208.67.222.222,208.67.220.220</DNSServers>

Ok thats not entirely bad news. That suggest removing the code removes any reference to SKys DNS's Now all we need to determine is how we switch the user defined DNS's on.
Its probably something really simple too

You could try inputting the line -
<dns dynamic="disable" primary="208.67.222.222" secondary="208.67.220.220" domain=""/>
