      Streaming woeful

      Hi all,

Recently my Internet streaming has been dreadful always buffering, I noticed that for some bizarre reason even though I have been with sky for a few years they decided to run a new line test that put my png back up to 40ms from 27ms and my speed is down from 1.2MB/s to 1.0MB/s. will this have any bearing on streaming I can always download at 1.0MB/s but streaming is really hit and miss, anything I can do?

Could you post your router's stats please?

How to get your router statistics - Sky User - The unofficial support forum for everything Sky!

Also could you confirm how your router is connected to the telephone line?

For example are you using it on an extension or the Master Socket, are you using the supplied microfilters, are you using the short grey ADSL cable supplied with the router.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

      Hi,

I cant post my router stats as I am using a Draytek Vigor 120 adsl modem into a Asus N56U router. I have a micro filter on my main BT socket which my modem is plugged into using a belkin shielded cable. There is another socket in the bedroom which has no devices plugged in. My line is stable at 1.0MBp/s 8.0 Mbps/s and doesn't drop.

      Re: Streaming woeful

It is very difficult to be able to judge what is happening with your line without the connection stats.

Is there any possible way that you can obtain the following information from the Modem?:
      • Sync speed
      • Line Attenuation
      • Noise Margin

These should be for both the downstream and upstream connections.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms
