Was just connected a few hours ago and these are the stats that I've just taken. Would appreciate if you could give me some kind of estimate of what speed I should expect at the end of DLM. Thanks.ROUTER STATISTICS

I'd say between 6-8 MB. Looks like a decent line.
Attenuation will go up when the line switches to ADSL2+.

Don't switch you router off during the first 10 days.
Just sit back, relax and watch the line go through different testing phases.

Thanks. That's about what I was getting with O2 so I'm happy with that as long as it stays consistent.

Well this is what I woke up to this morning. Why has my line attenuation gone up now and what speed could I realistically expect from this? My line attenuation with O2 was always 42? Has DLM started running yet? I had a problem yesterday which caused the router to disconnect.

The up time on wan seems to suggest dlm is running. Dlm normally resets the syns between 2-3am.

So would that have reset my line attenuation as well then? I noticed that my upload speed has increased but the download speed has decreased. My phone is due to be changed over next Tuesday, will that affect the DLM?

The previous figures were with an initial connection using ADSL1. You are now on ADSL2+. There is a slight increase in the Line Attenuation between the two as ADSL2+ uses a wider signal spectrum.

In respect of comparing it with O2, there are two possible reasons for the difference, the first is that your wirinhasse been physically changed at the telephone exchange, the second is that you may have been on ADSL1 with O2.

Could you connect the router to your Test Socket please and post the stats from there? If you don't have a test socket, could you unplug everything else and connect the router to the Master Socket and post the stats from there. In both cases, please use a Microfilter and the short grey ADSL lead supplied with the router.

After all the messing around yesterday I think that I will leave it until the DLM has finished and see what happens! My router isn't near to the master socket so I'll see what happens and post again when DLM has finished and everything has been switched over.

Re: Could you give me an estimate on what speed to expect please..

Could I please mention that it has been proven repeatedly that it is a bad idea to connect an ADSL router to a telephone extension. Normal telephone wiring used for extensions is not very good at maintaining the strength of the signal and the result is that the connection speed drops of very quickly, even on a 5m extension.

With ADSL1 this is not noticeable, but with ADSL2+ it is very noticeable.

There is an exception to this, where someone has a specific cable that is suitable for an extension.

Best advice at present is to locate the router near to the Master Socket and to use something to extend your home network connection nearer to where your devices are located. There are many ways to do this and including a long Ethernet cable, HomePlugs and WiFi Extenders. Component costs vary from a few pounds to over 100, depending which is best for your set up.
