      first 24 hours DLM

      is it exactly 24 hours the connection stays at 4096k / 600k ..? or more than 24? been 24 hours now and still on 4Mb

      is it best not too use the line much in the first 24 hours or following 10 days while DLM is active?
      I have been downloading a 2Gb file today, hope this doesnt affect DLM

      thanks

      Re: first 24 hours DLM

      It can take up to 3 days to start. It does not matter how much you use it, some say the more the better as it gives DLM something to work on. Keep an eye out for the router resyncing in the early hours between 2 and 3am, that is DLM running.

      What are your starting stats like? A nice high noise margin I hope

      Re: first 24 hours DLM

      On the welcome pack it says it can take up to 72hrs for DLM to start and up to 10 days to complete

      Going by your stats you're looking at 14Mbps+ (as a conservative guess)

      Re: first 24 hours DLM

      @ IWasNotTheEnemy - cheers, I hope to acheive at least the same as I had with o2 ADSL2+ which was 17,000k sync and 15.5Mbps speeds on default SNR of 6.5db (I know SKY use 7db) but after 10 days (or when DLM is finished) I will be using my Netgear GT and drop SNR to 2-3db and get the 19,000k sync rates (and 16.5Mbps speeds) I had with o2

      which welcome pack is this? with router? nothing mentioned in the paper work in there that I can see... CD / Quick Start Guide / Returns Label / Wifi codes

      just looked through 3 letters and broadband one doesnt mention anything about 3 days.. just first 10 days please leave router on as we test your line

      im not saying that it doesnt take 3 days im just saying theres no mention of that in the sky pack...that I can see anyway

      Re: first 24 hours DLM

      You won't get the same as o2 use a lower SNR than Sky but you should get near to it

      And I'm sure it used to say 3 days, could be wrong

      Re: first 24 hours DLM

      aye on default SNR its 1db lower SNR (6db is o2's default) - but my line attenuation dropped 1db too - i reckon should be about the same, MORE when i get the SNR down to 2-3db like i did with o2 cos the line attenuation has dropped - so in that respect i should get the same or more

      o2 = 26db / 2db = 19,200k (3db= 18,500k)
      SKY = 25db / 2db = ??,????k - should be about the same.
      - Hardware - Netgear DG834Nv1
      - Line Attenuation - 27.5db
      - Sync Rate - 17,600k
      - Noise Margin - 7db
      - Latency - 28ms

      May not stay as stable as o2 though...better to have stability than speed - who's gonna miss 1-200kbps in real usage??

      then obviously i have no choice but too raise the SNR to a stable level... doesnt bother me.. as long as its near enough..

      i dont mean I want EXACT figures.. i know thats impossible...just thereabouts give or take 1Mb,
      there should be no reason at all that the line (on SKY) cant hold a 3db SNR as the line itself has not changed and I know others on SKY at 3db etc

      If router chipset isn't matched to the exchange gear that alone can have it falling over all over the place
