SolarEdge and SKY Broadband Connection - unable to connect

I am currently a sky broadband unlimited users and have recently (in September '11) had Solar panels installed which send Panel related information and Solar production information to the companies monitoring website (prod.solaredge.com) on port 22222

Since end of Jan 2012 my 'inverter' (the box that converts the Solar power to AC and sends the info to the SolarEdge's monitoring portal) stoppped communicating. I have checked the connection and indeed if I use sky's default DNS setting I cannot ping the server address prod.solaredge.com, or telnet to it on port 22222.

On my desktop if i set my mac to use Opendns server for DNS then I can ping the server ok. Unfortunatley the Inverter does not allow me easily to change the DNS it uses as it is setup as DHCP and uses the crappy Sky modem's one. Can anyone out there assist in helping me work out how I can change the Sky Routers DNS settings (if at all possible) or assit in any other way? I have more information posted on another site regarding the issue, rather that repeat it all here:
      Solaredge and Sky Broadband

      Kind Regards,
      T

What router do you have? With certain Sky routers it is possible to change the DNS servers.

If you have the White one you can use James' CU firmware. This allows you to enter DNS servers and do other bits as pieces. Get it here-

This will work with the V1.03.87 firmware, if you have a later one it may not work.

Re: SolarEdge and SKY Broadband Connection - unable to connect

      Thanks isitme,
I have the black netgear router so not sure this will work for me. I have raised a support call with Sky and they have said that they will enable my specific router to access the site: prod.solaredge.com

Didn't know they blocked sites on a user specific basis !

That's not the old one unfortunately, so it will not work on your router.

I don't think they do. You have either got a fob off or they are looking into why the site is being blocked.
