I wonder if it is related to the issues I have had in the last couple of weeks with the Netgear website & their forums?

Think thats what it may be im still slower than normal now at 2.2Mb but connection is up and down between 1.8Mb and 2.5Mb...
Quite a few people on VM and other ISPs suffering ....no news or status reports from the NGs though
May try to run a download test of a file ...see what that shows.

I should have added that this still needs to be reported back to Sky, but it will help when discussing the technical issues with CST (not the first level of support).

Yes because they maybe able to introduce a workaround.

However, unless they know they cannot act on it (or try to)

Re: Sky Unlimited Broadband shaping traffic? Ports 119 and 563 suddenly extremely slo

Just tried Sky very busy so may try again later..
Just ran Some windows updates and DL is at 5.4Mb max...my usual speed..so that seems ok...
Do you think Sky would be able to sort a workaround ?
Found some more info that may be of value to some people..
Just had online converstaion with NGs help heres converstaion
      Jon: Hello,

There was an undersea fiber cut this week that is affecting many hosts out of Amsterdam and the surrounding area. If you are in/near Europe I would encourage you to use the server news.iad.usenetserver.com for about a week while the transit provider that owns that cable gets it repaired. Your existing port/SSL settings can still be used.
      paul: with same sign in

      Jon: yes
paul: Thanks Jon will give that a go ..how long before we are back to normal

Jon: Hopefully soon. They have found the cape and are working to repair it
paul: thanks for your time ...good bye

Im now at max using news.iad.usenetserver.com

      Hope this helps..

Re: Sky Unlimited Broadband shaping traffic? Ports 119 and 563 suddenly extremely slo

Do you broadband issues are becoming more frequent? I think ISP's are obviously lying about their capacity. Also, I experience problems with certain websites quite a lot... Censorship is on a high these days and I think their systems frequently mess up, frequently blocking the wrong sites etc

Please help me in my previous post

Switched to the US newshosting server and back to normal ish. Still doesn't account for my loss of over 1mb sync speed, I can live with it though til fibre in May.

I don't think sync speed loss is anything to do with Newgroups
