      Line Rental Query

I'm umming and arring about getting Sky BB as I've got Sky TV and as much as I prefer o2 BB (as their upload is superior - I always get the 1.3Mbps) I can get more from Sky for less.

The main worry is the phone line. I know I have to take line rental with Sky but do you HAVE to go on the SVBN? If not, I'll move straight away

If I have to move then I'm staying put as I'll obviously have more options when it comes to moving on in future.

I'd ring Sales but I know full well I'd be told it's fine and then end up on the SVBN and I've not had a chance to contact my old work colleagues yet

      Re: Line Rental Query

I think there was a post in the last week where a member had insisted not going on to SVBN and got away with it.

For no reason I can explain I'm sticking to BT for my line rental & calls.

I'm gonna have to give the old office a buzz and ask. If I can stick with a BT line I think I might have to go with Sky

When I took Sky BB and line rental last year initially my line went to SVBN but when they installed new ISAN's at the exchange in the middle of last year my line went back to BT and still is because the BT 17070 line test number works.

You have to take Sky line rental & calls to get Sky BB now but you might avoid the switch to SVBN,

Tbh, the reason I left was because of the price rise if you didnt take Sky Talk.
I've been more than happy with O2 and wouldnt consider returning unless they drop this condition.

If we stay on BT line do we keep on the pppoa and not move to SVBN or MER?

      Re: Line Rental Query

A friend of mine switched to Sky but was still on a BT line & his Dlink router switched to MER so nothing is certain.

      Re: Line Rental Query

Not fussed about MER, I only use BB in my lounge so WiFi distance isn't an issue so no need to use my own router, it's just the SVBN thing that bothers me. If I were to get Sky BB I'd get my line configured how I want it and that can only be done on a DSLAM not the ISAM due to the rubbishly narrow choice of line profiles
