New Unlimited User with Netgear DGND3300v2 Router

Just wanted to drop a thread in to firstly say thanks to all the forum contributors for the excellent resources here which helped me get up and running today on Sky BB Unlimited with my Netgear router without a hitch.

5 hours in and so far so good

Here's a potted history for anyone that is interested, particularly for new subscribers to Sky, given their rather attractive 6 months free deal at the moment, who might be a bit nervous about using their own router.

I placed my order a couple of weeks ago, having been with BT for 4 years.

Received my Sky Router (Sagem) in the post on Friday. Since my home setup is fairly well established, I was very keen to keep my DGN3300v2 as it is working well and all my devices were well configured.

Thanks to the resource on this site I was directed to https://www.cm9.net/skypass/ to retrieve my user details and password for the Sagem, which I had within a few minutes...

Today I got home from work. The broadband connection light was red and sure enough, logging on to the router I had a CHAP authentication error and was connected at 4096/512.

I input the user name and password I retrieved on Friday and bingo. Connected first time. No additional config required.

Connected the LAN cable to my Sky+HD 1TB box and Anytime+ was detected immediately and seems fully functional.

Now just waiting for DLM to kick in and we'll see where we get to (I was around 6-7meg on BT)

Thanks for listening, and thanks again to everyone for the excellent resources available here!

Why is it "risky" DM? You are very aware how many people on this forum alone use their own routers.

I can imagine that there are many more on other forums or who have never joined a forum who have the required information and have managed to use their own routers.

You should also be aware that Sky has never punished anyone for using their own non-Sky routers.
