What I mean here is my dads fibre optic is connected to one socket and the phone line is connected to the other socket.

Is there any way round this?

I would have thought that your Dad would have a separate telephone line as well. This would mean that if you want ADSL or FTTC, then you would have you own connection.

Would one of the sockets have to be doubled or something? So both phone lines can be connected to one socket?

      Anything and everything is possible.

I suggest that you speak with your Dad to find out what he knows.

ADSL & FTTC are signals that are carried along the same copper cables as a voice call.

I only have the one telephone line coming into my home. It carries the ADSL signal as well.

If your Dad shares the same telephone number as you, then I would suggest that you will need another telephone line in order to get another broadband connection.

      Re: Broadband recommendation!

I would have thought the voice line would be on the Fibre, same as the broadband. Are you sure his copper line is still in use? It may have been made redundant when the fibre was put in. If it is it will be available for you to connect to the supplier of your choice. With Sky this would cost about 40, plus rental of course.
