The filtered faceplate will help with most of the internal wiring.

I am not 100% sure what else to do with the wiring between the socket and the grey box on the outside wall. Hopefully someone else will pop in and help here.

In the mean time could you do a simple check on your line quality please?

Using a corded telephone, plugged into the Test Socket, dial '1' and listen for any noise. If you hear any crackling, for example, then your line needs repairing. Ideally the line should be totally silent, but a little hiss is acceptable.

Gel crimps on an incoming line are normal, so long as the cable going into the house is copper CW1308 changing it would make no difference. It looks like a filtered faceplate is the way to go for you.

      Re: New to Sky Broadband

Give Sky a friendly call when the noise margin is nearest 8.1dB and you should be able to get a better connection speed.

This might be a little unstable though, so be prepared to have it reduced a little after a week or more.
