I am assuming that your current Virgin connection is through the BT style line, not cable. This being the case then the stats are usable to predict what you should expect.

Initially Sky will start at around 4096/605, but it should increase a little.

Unfortunately I do not think you will get much more speed than with Virgin.

Sky has a target to get the noise margins to 7dB. The upstream is below this target, so you may find Sky's is a little slower.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

is there any way to opt out of the dlm

i want it capped at 6mb download and 60k up

few years ago when i was with sky my netgear white job was happy at 4db with snr tweaks this give me the most solid connection having a slower upload

DLM is an automated process. It is forbidden for the Sky staff to terminate it early.

As for the speed settings that you mentioned, personally I wouldn't want the upload speed so low. You could find yourself having problems if you wanted to stream HD content or when making a Skype call.

Even when you are not actually uploading content (such as described above) an acknowledgement signal is sent. If there is not enough spare bandwidth, your downloads will be affected.

opening stats not to bad, it's the starting blocks so you will notice over the next few days (upto 10) the noise margin will drop closer to the magical sky 7.0 target and the connection speed will rise accordingly.

Yes, your upload speed also confirms this. When DLM starts you will move from G.DMT to ADSL2+. Might be better if you stayed on G.DMT actually.
