Ok, are there any power cables, RF cables or electrical equipment near the router?

Sorry for the questions, just trying to build a picture in my head.

no not when its plugged into the test socket its just a disused room hence the reason it cant stay in there

the only cable that is close is the powercable for the router

My next step would be to see if there's anything physically wrong with the master socket.

Grab a torch and have a close look at the strips in the socket to see is any are crooked or loose.

Take the whole front off and check that nothing shorts out when you plug in the microfilter.

      This is weird

I assume you're referring to a line test that Sky done? If so, the particular test just measures loop length and highlights any bridge taps / impairments. With this, it does give an estimate of attenuation but it's just an estimate at best.

There's obviously something not right if you were quoted 8mbps at the POS, but I would take the single end line test results with a pinch of salt, personally.

Re: poor broadband and customer service

it just seems odd that im getting a line length of aroud 4km when i no the exchange is (im aware that it dosnt go as the crow flies ) but when some1 on sky 50m from my house can get nearly 14 mb i fell that line degridation is the fault but sky refuces to do anything about it
