      Need Help Connecting To Internet

      Hi
I am at my wits end here trying to get a laptop to connect to the internet.
I have multiple laptops in my house and they all can get on the internet wirelessly except for one. The ones that can are Vista and this one i am having issues with is using Windows 7.

I need some noddy advice on this one, previously it has been working fine but for some reason it has stopped. Wifi is ON with this laptop and it can SEE the network, just for some reason it cannot connect to it and see the internet.

Is there a guide or any advice someone can give to help me out on ths one. The adapter on the laptop says that it has no problems and i have to believe this becauase it can SEE the network.

Please help, i have no idea what to do here. If they all were not working it would be easier. I have tried rebooting the router but this does not help either.

      Lee

I cant remember off hand, but it said to check the adapter which i did and it said it was ok.
I need some sort of trouble shooting guide i think.
I de-installed the adapter on the laptop and did the scan for hardware changes and it picked it up and reinstalled but stll no luck.
Dont really know what to do next on this one, it has got me

Unfortunately you really need to be very specific as to which error is being reported. Could you take a screen dump of the error or write it down in full and post it on here?

Trim the excess information off some that we see the error only.

Also in the mean time, could you download and install all the latest Windows 7 updates please. Whilst it should be fine, there may be some hidden ones that also need to be installed as well. One of these may hold the key to a resolution.

Also could you download and install inSSIDer please?

This program will help you to see the WiFi signal from your router and see whether it is a nice stable signal or whether the signal is vanishing or very weak.

Go to the manufacturers site and see if there is a Win7 driver. Do not depend on Windows to find the best driver, it only checks the MS data base which is often behind the manufacturers.

If you are set to download and install all updates there is a good chance that one of them has caused the problem. A couple of years ago an update rendered my Realtek card inoperative, since then I don't accept driver updates from MS. You could check this by using System Restore to wind back your PC to before the problem started. If it is then OK, you will know where to look.

@Leevis: With this in mind it would definitely be worth checking the manufacturer's website for any updates.

If you are unable to find out who this is, it could be the PC maker (e.g. Dell or HP) or the WiFi card maker's site. Search for the details of both on-line and you should find a resource where you can find them.

Do you have any details from the device itself?

Which model adaptor is it? You may need to take it out of your computer and photograph it.
