      You would benefit from fitting a filtered faceplate. This isolates the rest of your phone circuit from the broadband and will allow you to use a phone in any socket you choose.

      I do have a filtered faceplate, pulling the filtered faceplate away from the wall to expose the test socket knocks out all phone sockets.

      That is how it should be. If you are getting a better result with the plug in filter than the filtered faceplate, that suggests your faceplate may need replacing or is incorrectly fitted. Can you check that the wires on the back of the faceplate are on the 2 and 5 terminals and not the A and B ones?

      I don't want to disconnect the modem again while DLM is being carried out. There's not much difference in stats between faceplate and test socket. It was fitted by a BT engineer.
