no, they didnt think that would help. BUT maybe some good at last,

something strange happened when the person done a line test, the last one came back as a fail, but this one as a pass, the line then showed 3mb with a max of 4. she said no errors were building up
also my line now has no noise, but my exchange hasnt been worked on since april!?
so this is now my status

      System Up Time: 47:21:02
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN MER 14294 373795 0 2898636 370809830 0:17:59
      LAN Down 0 0 0 0 0 47:21:02
      WLAN Up 563745 512068 0 361488859
      84508663 47:20:43
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 3068 kbps 253 kbps
Line Attenuation 61.5 dB 39.5 dB
Noise Margin 7.7 dB 15.9 dB

ive been told to moniter the connection speed my end and if it dissconnects
but how can i go fro 1.5mb, bad line then 3mb???????
and while i had extremly slow up speed i had 412kbps up, but now knly have 253! (on the router status page)

also speedtest.net is showing the line grade as f+

Re: sick of being messed about,

It looks like the problem with your line has been fixed. You would not necessarily know that anything was being done on your line, but if it is fixed, lets hope it stays that way and gives you a reasonable experience.

Interesting, I wonder if this has anything to do with the problem I am having which has started since FTTC was installed at my local exchange.

Re: sick of being messed about,

Going by your noise margin your line is taking a bit more speed than it should. You may find that it drops out and resyncs a bit lower, just over the 3Mb I would think, but it should be stable, which is more important than the higher sync. With a low noise margin, you are likely to get errors on the line which will reduce your actual speed. Let's hope the disconnections have ceased and you can enjoy your broadband as you did before your problems started.
