      After reading some of the posts on this page, over the weekend I purchased some new bits for the line. A new filter, a new telephone adaptor and I replaced the cable for the telephone which did help reduce the hissing noise I reported a few posts previous. Although my homeplugs arrived today I'm going to wait and see if I get another drop before moving everything around. In the meantime, they are still being put to good use by allowing me to finally use Sky Anytime+.

      This is my router stats as of tonight, what I wanted to ask is - on my router, how can I check the errors on my line?

      Just when I thought things were looking good First it disconnected in the early hours of yesterday morning and seemed to do it again this morning.

      I think I give up now

      Look again.

      The connection stats have improved on both sides.

      Oh so they have! other then the downstream increasing has anything else improved?

      I'm just curious as to why it dropped when the connection was up for over 7 days, does it do it automatically when it detects there could be more speed gained?

      Just occasionally my connection resets without any explanation.

      It could be for a variety of reasons, but I don't suspect anything untoward on my line. In your case, see how things go and keep an eye on them.

      Provided that things stay reasonably stable, and the resets are not too frequent or become an issue, you should be fine.

      That's how DLM should work, but in most cases it seems to only lower the speed, not increase it. The possible reason has been your noise margin has dropped too low to sustain the speed so it disconnects it. By the time it reconnects, the reason for the noise margin drop has disappeared and it resyncs at the best speed it can. In this case at a higher rate than previously. If this is happening at a regular time, it is possible something is causing a sudden noise spike with a very short duration. As long as it resets to about the same speed, there is little to worry about.

      I think your line is probably set to 4608/864, so you will not go any higher.
