      Further evidence that this could be my router is the fact I can no longer connect to 192.168.0.1, it just loads and loads, asks me for the user name and password (admin, sky), loads again, then says problem loading page and nothing happens, yet my internet has now been stable since 11am (ish), last time I saw my stats it had synced at 2656 down. Dodgy firmware?

      Try resetting your router by pushing a pin in the reset hole on the rear, hold it in for about 10 seconds or until the lights start flashing. When you have done that try to get into the GUI.

      Thanks I did that and it worked to get back in to the stats but my internet is still dropping connection, 6 times in 5 minutes since coming in from work, same old story. Looks like another engineer next week if a new router isn't the answer.

      Just got the "new" router. It's a netgear white DG834G. I will give it a try later on and see what the stats show.

      I have tried the netgear but i can't even set it up, once in the 192.168.0.1 on the setup wizard it is asking for a username and password for pppoa, I have no idea what it is as my current dlink does all that automatically.

      You will have to extract the username and password from you Sky router and put them into the Netgear. Look here -

      Ah ok thanks, I did read something about that earlier when googling it. Anyway I have just been on the phone to sky and they are sending me a new router anyway so I will just wait for that one to arrive. The guy on the phone said he was confident that the router is my problem, but I won't hold my breath. He didn't say what router sky are sending me, nor did I ask, but will it be a different (newer) one to what I have now? Or will they send me the d-link one again?

      We can't really say, it may be a V2 router, probably refurbished or one of the new Sagem 2304N. I don't think they are sending out the newest 2504N model as replacements.
