      Lift & shift is easy IF you get a decent engineer, if it doesn't drop while he's in the exchange(on the phone to India) then he can easily make it drop

      I've just gone through this very scenario. However after a lift & shift, new master socket & ADSL faceplate, new router & a pair shift we still have a very unstable line!

      For whatever reason they seem very reluctant to do my lift and shift and are always making excuses. Sky executive team have just responded to my email and said they have passed it on to the technical team again

      Maybe there is no capacity to shift you on to?? I've not re read the whole thread so sorry if that has been checked.

      I don't know to be honest, all the engineers just say "ooooohh it needs very high authorisation" and the bloke that went to do it said "i'll just nip to the exchange to see if I can do it, see you later" that was a 10:30am about a month ago and he never reappeared, maybe he is still in the exchange haha.

      It IS true that they need to see a drop when at the exchange(how silly!) BUT as I said it is easy to make it drop (all they do is pull the lead out of the tester for a second, hey presto, a line drop! India will then authorise, your line will go off for 30 mins>an hour & job is done). Maybe he is still there awaiting a line drop

      With my connection still dropping I am finally going to pack Sky in come the new year and go with BT infinity, despite the extra cost I just can't cope with my internet as it is now for any longer. Now seeing as I have had the whole length of line from my pole to the exchange swapped and it is still dropping I am guessing my fault must lie in the exchange or beyond (baffled at why no lift and shift has been done). So if I go fibre I am assuming all the equipment and ports (or whatever) I am currently on in the exchange will change and in theory the problem I have now will no longer exist. I just don't want to swap to fibre and end up still having the same issue.

      BT has just announced a major price drop on their Infinity packages. I am sure you'll find it a lot cheaper now.

      It is not only the exchange equipment which will be different but all the line back to the exchange from your cabinet so you should have a completely different experience. The only thing that will be the same is that bit of wire from the pole to the cabinet. You will also have a new Master socket fitted.

      I don't know how you have put up with it so long, in your place I would have been gone long ago

      Quick update. Sky phoned me the other day to tell me line stabilization is being run and takes 10 days (not sure if this is what DLM is) and so my internet is currently disconnecting once or twice a day and the speed is dropping each time. Currently on about 2900ish. Still planning to switch anyway but thought I would update.

      It is the BT equivalent of DLM. Unless they have done something else, I can't see it do anything but drop your speed down to an unacceptable rate.
