      Currently on the phone to sky, have been told I need a lift and shift at the exchange and the bloke is trying to open an e chat with an open reach engineer to do this. Anyone heard of this before? He says it means moving all my cable etc to another port in the exchange.

      Well he can't open the echat thing so is calling me back later, heard that one before.

      This is correct. Hopefully this will resolve things, but then I've been hoping for a long time that something will fix your problems.

      Sky called back, first BT are going to try and alter my speed and configuration which will be done by tomorrow evening, if that doesn't fix it then sky said the lift and shift will be done. Are these lift and shifts successful usually? I am understandably pessimistic about anything and everything I am told can fix my issue right now!

      When there is a fault with the individual port which you are connected to, then indeed it can fix things.

      For obvious reasons, result can vary, but I wouldn't loose hope just yet.

      Well BT are doing something with my line, my upstream is now only 228kb and the noise margin has gone up to 28db, my downstream is around 2220kb and it is a lot more stable, still had about 8 drops last night though. Still 8 too many but less than the 110 the other day.

      Nice to see that you are finally happy! That 'Lift & Shift' seems to have fixed it for you.

      Now I wonder if that previous BTO Engineer should be shown what the problem was...

      Please remember not to go made on downloading as you will be capped on the Connect package.

      The lift and shift hasn't been done yet, all that has been done is that my line has been capped at 2mb. I spoke too soon, internet is dropping again today, currently on the phone to sky again.

      Sky said this is now being referred back to BT as a possible "long line issue". Obviously that means my line is long, but does anyone know what can be done about such an issue?
