      Sky network upgrade in October?

      Morning all

I just recieved a letter from sky explaining that they will be upgrading there broadband and sky talk network in october and i could be without service for maybe only an hour which is fine but i am just curious to know what they might actually be doing. Could this maybe mean that everyone will be changed to an MER connection do you think? If so i am also curious to know if sky would have to sent out a new router say for older customers that are still using a very old sky router which may not support this type of connection? No one seems to know a great deal about it either so im really hoping this wont be the case as im not sure if even my new TP-Link 8960n router supports MER

Guess its just a waiting game

      Do the following:

      1) Conduct a traceroute to bbc.co.uk and post your results.
      2) Dial 17070 from your phone and see if you get through to Zoey or the BT line testing facility.

I might be wrong here, but from what I can gather, all it means is that Sky are moving you onto their own dedicated back end network instead of the EasyNet LLU network.

I got moved the other month and my phone/broadband was only down for a few minutes. I had already been switched to MER before this move though.

I recalled you being on Sky's kit. This is why I asked you to do this as well.

As you are already on the SVBN that is a bit curious. It is possible they have already moved you and don't realize it. Let us know what happens when you are 'moved', if you actually are.

MY 2nd hop takes me to the Sky farm North West of Harrowgate, same as yours.

Thanks for that isitme, i remember running a trace router over 3 months ago and it came up the same as i posted above so i was kinda confused to what the letter was stating.

Any how i just hope they dont change something for no reason and end up ruining my service
