I have been a SKY customer for ages and have only had trouble with the internet part. I dont mind putting up with slow speeds as long as I could get decent streaming of videos from You Tube, or the football games via SKY Go. I understand that although I should recieve 20 meg, my distance from exchange means I only get roughly 2. I havent had any problems for nearly a year.
For the last few weeks I have not been able to watch any programmes on SKY Go, or any clips on any other sites without the streaming taking ages. Every five/ten seconds the streaming stops and starts driving me crazy.
I have checked all leads, changed filters, moved electrical items, cleared caches etc to no avail. My router is less than a year old and nothing has changed inside the home. I have e-mailed SKY and am awaiting a reply witihn 72 hours.
      My questions are:
Is anyone else having trouble with SKY Go?
Is there anything else I can try while I wait for Sky to help?
Are my router stats , (above), dire or is it a normal?
      Thanks for any help given.

Sky team phoned me today. They had tinkered with my broadband hence slightly better stats, (above). Call out for Open Reach engineer scheduled for Wednesday. Threatened with 144 call out fee if I have an extension lead attached!
They know there is a problem, but cant trace it, although they admitted I am not that far from my exchange, they still expect me to be able to recieve up to 2 meg. Shame they cant lower the price when they know 20 meg is completly impossible.
      Now await callout.

Call them and ask them to change your line mode to G.DMT, which is basic ADSL and will probably give you a better speed than the mode you are on.

Thanks, I will write that down and see what they say.
In the meantime my Sky Anytime + has now gone down. Main pages are just coming up as lists rather than pictures, and downloading of movies is taking 25 minutes before it gets to the 7 per cent playable level. This has not happened before.
      Thanks again for advise.

G.DMT - Also known as full-rate DSL. A type of asymmetric DSL technology, based on DMT modulation, that offers up to 8 Megabits per second downstream bandwidth and 1.544 Megabits per second upstream bandwidth. "G.dmt" is actually a nickname for the standard officially known as ITU-T Recommendation G.992.1.

Just had a quick look to see what I was asking for and put it here incase anyone else wants to know.
Does this mean I could get 8 mg speed, or just somewhat faster than what I get at the moment?

8mb is out of question because your current stats are quite poor. Hopefully when openreach come out on Wednesday they'll sort you out and you'll be able to manage 3-4mb

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2048 kbps 252 kbps
Line Attenuation 56.0 db 32.4 db
Noise Margin 19.3 db 17.3 db

      New stats above.
Open Reach just been, (So much for the 8am-1pm appointment)! He changed my very old phone line box and the stats above seem better. He said I should recieve possibly 4 mg within the next few days but there may be a cap on the line so he was going to speak to SKY to get it sorted. Any way this is much better than I was getting and sites like th BBC I player work without constant buffering.
I asked about G-DMT but both the Sky rep and Open Reach told me I shouldnt need to change as I would not get a better speed. Anyway I am going to wait till Monday and ring Sky to ask if it can go any faster.
Thanks for everyones help on this site. So glad its here as there is some very helpful pages and people with excellent ideas.

Just ask Sky to uncap you. It's currently capped at 2048/256 adsl2plus. You've got plenty of room for improvement following the SFI visit.

Just thought you'd like to see my new stats, as from last night at 4p.m. when someone at SKY logged into my computer and reset the speeds. I was at the computer when the sky page appeared telling me I had no internet access etc. Dont know why they have done this as I was happy with the previous standard. So I am attempting to find out whats going on. Its such a shame they keep messing me around because I would hate to cancel everything I have with them and go elsewhere.
