Are BT Stupid Enough To CEASE Before PROVIDE?

My activation date is now two days overdue.

In some respects I'm not too bother about time - I am paid up with my current supplier until 25th October so I don't mind if activation takes until them.

The delay is obviously being introduced by BT rather than Sky because they should have done the PROVIDE on the 4th October and haven't done so.

What I am worried about though, is BT performing the CEASE to schedule on the 9th October before getting round to the provide, leaving me with no connection at all.

Would BT be that stupid - I feel the answer is probably yes but hope I'm just being pessimistic.

I've read about lots of people being left with internet but sense this is because the contract with their old ISP has expired before they have been connected with Sky - is this true?

      Thanks,

      Nigel

Not only is it possible Nigel, theres the one thing you can guarantee and that BT will cease on the date they have given regardless of any delays to your migration.

Sorry mate there must be 100's of posts on here about that happening
      Ray

Some Advice.. Its always advisable to inform your old ISP as soon as you have migrated that you have moved.

Absolutely right. My activation date was September 18 and my cease date was 21 September. Yes, you guessed right. I was ceased on 21 September and finally activated on October 1st !!

Yes they certainly are, they ceased me 5 days before they said they had connected me to the LLU.
More importantly Sky mishandled the MAC code and did not inform my current ISP (Orange ) that I had been migrated, so Orange charged me for an extra month.
You may want to get on the your old ISP as soon as you have been ceased to check, dont forget to cancel the direct debit.

4 weeks without BB to date.

Sorry penrhyn its nothing to do with SkyBB

Once the code has been submitted to BT its their job to handle that and they have been known to not inform the losing ISP on quite a few occasions, I called Zen once mine was complete to make sure they knew.

Thought as much - foolish of me to even consider intelligence at BT.

      Cheers,

@wheelie - same here. I called Orange as a check once I had been activated for a few days and they had not been informed by BT. Good reaction from Orange, partial credit given against payment already made to cover period from cease, plus cancellation of the direct debit just initiated for the new month.

I must just be lucky that where I live no one wants to move to LLU so the engineers have nothing to do.

My activation happened on the day advised (25th of September). My CEASE order happened at midnight and I was on with Sky the same morning.
