      Slow on max

      Hi all,
Took the plunge and went with Sky max. The change over from pipex went smoothly no down time and the line went active last night. However the speed I am getting at the moment is very disappointing. Various speed test and ftp downloads and the max speed seems to be around 1196 kbps, upload seems fine at around 635kbps. Stats from the router (below) suggest I should be getting much faster download speed. Any ideas?
Connection Speed 15323 kbps 766 kbps
Line Attenuation 23.0 db 13.6 db
Noise Margin 12.9 db 10.2 db

      Cheers
      Gorevan

      Thanks for the quick response
I have been lurking for a while and tried a few thing like disabling upnp still no joy I will have a look in case I missed anything. Is it true that the line needs training for 10 days or so. I haven't seen much variation in the download speed (tried at different times of the day). Pipex was twice as fast 2mb line

no on LLU that does not apply so once you connect via LLU that will stay unless you contact Sky and say the speed is unstable then Sky will cap it at a stable speed.

Ps what speed test site's that from ?

So I probably do have a problem of some sort.
      I tried quite a few
      www.speedtest.net/
      adslguide.org.uk
      www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/
and a few others they all produced similar results. Also tested the speed from a few of the ftp mirrors scattered about this site

hmm doesn't seem right my results are:
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 15297 kbps 766 kbps
Line Attenuation 30.5 db 16.1 db
Noise Margin 6.8 db 8.9 db

      and I get 10 - 12mb

how long has your router been connected ?

I have rebooted the router quite a few times just did it again there no difference. Longest connected was overnight. Then I rebooted this morning.
One of the reasons for going with sky was the predicted speeds at 16mbs. Hope I can sort it out.

Have you run the speed optimiser from the speed test section of the forum? It has certainly helped some people.
