They do and this is normally sufficient.

      Thanks for all the help.

Turned out the router was faulty, so I'll be returning it to the seller tomorrow.

I've hooked up the Billion BiPac 7800N and the errors have stopped and are sitting at 0 (on the D-Link, they would jump close to 1000 sometimes within minutes). Small tweak of the SNR via the routers control panel has boosted it from 17mb to 17.9mb, so I am rather happy

Thanks again for all the help, it's greatly appreciated.

The chip inside the router can improve the line a lot.

They can also help stop the SNR from dropping, which can cause disconnections.

The equipment at the exchange uses a Broadcom chip, so a router with a broadcom chip
      will run fine.

Re: Line errors and loss of speed

Just a quick update, it was 100% an issue with the router. Since installing the Billion BiPac 7800N, my sync speed has increased to a stable 19997 kbps and the network is running better than ever (and the wireless coverage is fantastic).

Thanks again for everyone's help, it is greatly appreciated.
